Costa Rica

Costa Rica is one of the most incredibly diverse and beautiful countries on the planet.  Despite its diminutive size, this Central American nation is a tiny world unto itself, where mountain cloud forests and dormant volcanoes are only a few hours drive from tropical beaches and lowland rain forest.

Getting married in Costa Rica?  What a delicious thought!  Tropical!  Romantic!  About a zillion cool things to do before and after the wedding for both the newlyweds and their guests.  Memories of your wedding in Costa Rica will last forever.

Wedding Requirements:
  • Passports
  • Birth Certificates
  • Affidavit, signed in Costa Rica, which states you are legally free to marry.  (This precludes the need for Civil Status Certificate authenticated by the Costa Rican Embassy).
  • Divorce Decree or Death Certificate (if applicable, there is a mandatory 300-day wait period after a divorce for a woman to re-marry).
  • Parents’ written consent (if under 18 years of age)
  • Two witnesses that are not family members (must have valid passports).

*After the wedding, the paperwork will be translated into English, authenticated by the Canadian Consulate and sent to your home to register at the local civil registry office.  Please note that marriage license requirements often change.
