- Must file a ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ form with the Bermuda Government’s Registrar General. Must be submitted 4 weeks prior to the ceremony date. This form must be accompanied by a fee of $210, plus $21 for your marriage certificate in the form of a cashiers cheque or bank draft (Bermuda or US dollars) made payable to the Accountant General, Hamilton Bermuda. Copies of final divorce decrees must accompany this form if either the bride or groom has been divorced.
- The ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ is published in the two Bermuda newspapers and parties to the intended marriage are not required to be resident during this time. If no objection to the marriage is raised the Registrar General may issue a license to marry 15 days from the date of receipt of the ‘Notice’ and this license is valid for three months.
- Only those British subjects resident in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who intend to marry a British subject resident in Bermuda, and for whom banns are called in their normal place of worship in the United Kingdom, can also have their banns called in the church where the marriage is intended to take place.
- ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ forms are available from Tourism offices international and from Registrar General in Bermuda. Notice may be given by either of the parties personally or by mail.
